National Youth Gathering
The Youth from Mt. Zion attended the National LCMS Youth Gathering in New Orleans in July, 2010.
The Gathering was an opportunity for Lutheran Youth from all over the nation to get together in one place to worship and serve our LORD. Every 3 years around 35,000 youth, youth leaders and volunteers are hosted by one city to share nearly a weeks worth of Christ centered fellowship. This past July, in New Orleans, participants got just that, along with a new cultural experience visiting somewhere very different than the Twin Cities. The vibe surrounding the city of New Orleans was one of rich history, great music and of course many different foods.
The youth would like to thank the congregation for their support both financially with their donations and fund raising, and spiritually with their prayers and encouragement.

West Africa Mission Trip
Jack Carlos, Minister of Outreach for Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, had the opportunity to visit three counties in West Africa with a team from St. Michaels Lutheran Church of Bloomington. The mission team visited Senegal, Mali, and Guinea. They spent the first week in Senegal, ministering to the LCMS World Mission missionaries from the surrounding West African countries who do not often get time to spend relaxing, worshiping in their own language, and spending time with other Christians from their own culture. The mission team provided Bible studies, worship, and fun activities for both the adults and children.
The group traveled to Siguiri, Guinea to see where Tim & Heidi Norton are working among the Maninka and had the opportunity to see firsthand, the work that God is doing though missionary Tim Norton who has mastered the Maninka language so he can spread the word of God to these people, who are Muslim.
Please continue to keep the Norton family in your prayers and pray for the new leaders, that they will be bold and courageous in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with others.
